DOWN & DIRTY:
Romantic Comedy: Two rival bookstore owners unknowingly carry on a relationship over the Internet.

NITTY GRITTY:
Kathleen Kelly (MEG RYAN) runs The Shop Around the Corner, a children's bookstore in New York's Upper West Side. Living with a newspaper columnist, Frank Navasky (GREG KINNEAR), Kathleen believes her life to be good and enjoys the company of her employees and coworkers, such as Birdie (JEAN STAPLETON) and George (STEVE ZAHN).

Joe Fox (TOM HANKS) also thinks his life is fine as he lives just a few blocks away from Kathleen with his arrogant book editor girlfriend, Patricia Eden (PARKER POSEY). Joe is heir to the Fox Books super store chain run by his father (DABNEY COLEMAN). Now Fox is opening one of their mega stores right around the corner from Kathleen's quaint little bookshop.

Joe and Kathleen soon become bitter business enemies once they finally meet in person, but unbeknownst to them, they've been anonymously flirting with each other by e-mail.

As Joe and Kathleen's business rivalry grows, so does their cyber-relationship.

THE ENDING:
NY152 (a.k.a Joe) and Shopgirl (a.k.a Kathleen) finally decide to meet in person. Joe gets to the meeting place late and discovers that Shopgirl is really Kathleen. Kathleen thinks NY 152 has stood her up. Joe enters the restaurant and talks with Kathleen. He really likes her. She slowly comes around to liking Joe. Joe as NY 152 arranges another meeting and when Kathleen sees it's him, Joe reveals his secret.

WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT:
The chemistry between Hanks and Ryan. They did it once before in 'Sleepless in Seattle' and again here.
