L.A. Confidential

DOWN & DIRTY:
Drama: Three police officers, each with their own distinct style of law enforcement, uncover conspiracy and corruption in their department.

NITTY GRITTY:
It's 1950's Los Angeles, three police officers have their own way of dealing with their jobs.
Jack Vincennes (KEVIN SPACEY) is a cop on the take from a tabloid editor/reporter, Sid Hudgeons (DANNY DEVITO), whose magazine "Hush Hush" prominently features Jack's recent drug busts.

Officer Bud White (RUSSELL CROWE) is often used to physically beat confessions out of suspects, but he especially loses his cool when women are the victims of any crime.

Ed Exley (GUY PEARCE) is a straight-laced, by-the-book cop with big aspirations. After a police brutality case earns Ed a promotion, and his associates contempt for ratting on their guilty behavior, things seem very strained among the three.

When one of their former partners is killed in what appears to be a routine homicide, they begin to come across certain unsettling evidence.

Guided by their veteran captain, Dudley Smith (JAMES CROMWELL), the three begin to investigate many different suspects.

As they dig up more evidence, they find themselves pitted against each other as well as their own department as they uncover police corruption and murderous activity.

THE ENDING:
Dudley kills Vincennes when he gets too close to the truth. Exley and White get in a shoot out with the 'bad' cops and Exley kills Dudley. Exley gets promoted and White leaves town to live happily ever after with former hooker Lynn Bracken (KIM BASINGER).

WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT:
The scene in the restaurant when Exley accuses a woman of being a hooker 'cut' to look like Lana Turner and it REALLY is Lana Turner.
