Rushmore

DOWN & DIRTY:
Comedy: A scheming and over ambitious student tries to get a teacher to fall for him while dealing with her other suitor.

NITTY GRITTY:
Max Fischer (JASON SCHWARTZMAN) is one of the worst students at the exclusive Rushmore Academy. The reason he is such an academic failure is his extracurricular activities. He has founded or presides over numerous clubs, organizations and the like.

With his young protégé, Dirk Calloway (MASON GAMBLE),constantly by his side, Max never fails to come up with an angle or scheme to better suit his needs.

Max falls for one of the school's first grade teachers, Miss Cross (OLIVIA WILLIAMS), but can't get her to reciprocate the feelings. Enlisting some financial aide from Mr. Blume (BILL MURRAY), a local steel tycoon who's taken a shine to Max, the 15-year-old tries to build an aquarium on the school's baseball field to impress Miss Cross.

That gets Max expelled from Rushmore and forces him to enroll in the dreaded nearby public school and it introduces the married Mr. Blume to Miss Cross who he also falls for.

They begin a covert affair that Max soon learns about and Max decides to use every resource at his disposal to ruin Blume while still trying to win Miss Cross' heart.

Blume runs over Max's bike while he is at school and Max reciprocates by cutting the brake line to Blume's Mercedes. This gets Max arrested and thrown out of public school.

Max then informs Blume's wife of his affair and Blume is divorced and forced to live in a hotel.

THE ENDING:
Now Max doesn't care about school or extracurricular activities or anything. He works with his father in the barber shop until Dirk convinces him to go back to school.

Max decides to put on a play about the Vietnam War and he invites both Miss Cross and Mr. Blume. They see each other and after talking, get back together. Max has his own hands full. Another student, Margaret Yang has fallen for Max.

WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT:
The funny performance of Bill Murray as Mr. Blume.

TRIVIA: Max is played by Jason Schwartzman, who is the son of Talia Shire (Adrian) of ROCKY fame.
