Bowfinger

DOWN & DIRTY:
Comedy: A smalltime film maker tries to direct a movie without actually telling his major star, a paranoid actor, that he's in it.

NITTY GRITTY:

Bobby Bowfinger (STEVE MARTIN) is a down on his luck, 49-year-old film maker. Aware that he's near the end of his career, Bowfinger gets excited about a new script, "Chubby Rain," that's been written by his accountant-friend-turned screenwriter, Afrim (ADAM ALEXI-MALLE).

Bowfinger tries to bluff his way into getting big-time producer Jerry Renfro (ROBERT DOWNEY, JR.), to produce the script. Renfro agrees, but only if Bowfinger can deliver action star Kit Ramsey (EDDIE MURPHY) to star in it.

Not knowing Ramsey, Bowfinger discovers that the actor is paranoid, particularly about space aliens, a fact Ramsey discusses with Terry Stricter (TERENCE STAMP), the head of a tightly controlled motivational organization called "MindHead." Ramsey wants nothing to do with Bowfinger or his movie.

Bowfinger assembles his group of actors. Carol (CHRISTINE BARANSKI) is Bowfinger's veteran stage actress friend. And there's Daisy (HEATHER GRAHAM), an aspiring actress who decides the best way to succeed is by sleeping with everyone. Slater(KOHL SUDDUTH) is Bowfinger's friend and resident hunk actor who ends up sleeping with Daisy.

Bowfinger tells them that Ramsey prefers not to see the camera or interact with any of them and thus manages to include the actor in his film, without his permission or even knowledge. With the help of Dave (JAMIE KENNEDY), a studio gopher who "borrows" all of their needed camera gear, Bowfinger uses his 'actors' and a Ramsey look-alike Jiff ( also EDDIE MURPHY) to film his movie.

THE ENDING:

Bowfinger's plan comes crashing down when Mindhead leader Stricter finds out about the movie. He threatens Bowfinger with arrest, but Bowfinger has film of Stricter's client Ramsey flashing the Laker Girls cheerleaders. They make a deal and the movie is finished and premieres to great acclaim.

WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT:

The hilarious scene where Eddie Murphy is chased through an underground parking garage by a dog in high heels....that's right, high heels.
