Ever
After: A Cinderella Story
DOWN &
DIRTY:
Romantic drama: A young woman
must deal with her cruel
stepmother and stepsister who
have set their sights on the
young prince who's fallen in love
with her.
NITTY GRITTY:
Danielle (ANNA MAGUIRE) is a
young girl growing up on a 16th
century French farm. Her happy
life is shattered when her father
dies of a heart attack and she's
left in the hands of her cruel
new stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla
(ANGELICA HUSTON).
Years later, Danielle (DREW
BARRYMORE) is a young woman who
now works as a servant for
Rodmilla and her two daughters,
Marguerite (MEGAN DODDS) and
Jacqueline (MELANIE LYNSKEY).
The King and Queen of France
(TIMOTHY WEST & JUDY PARFITT)
son Prince Henry (DOUGRAY SCOTT)
is unhappy that he's stuck in an
upcoming prearranged marriage.
Wanting to see the world, he
flees from the castle, borrows a
horse, and rides by Danielle who
doesn't recognize him and
believes him to be a horse thief.
She knocks the prince from his
horse with a well-thrown apple,
but upon seeing who she hit,
Danielle immediately bows in
embarrassed respect. Sparks
immediately fly between the two.
Later, when Danielle visits the
court dressed as a courtier to
free one of the farm's workers,
she encounters the prince again
and his interest in her grows
stronger. Danielle Identifies
herself with her dead mother's
name and wants nothing to do with
the prince. She believes he is
arrogant and callous, but his
charm slowly works its spell on
her.
The prince has five days to
choose a new bride lest his
father proceed with the
prearranged marriage. Once word
of this gets out Rodmilla plots
to have the prince fall for
Marguerite, ensuring her family's
place among the royals.
THE ENDING:
Danielle attends the Royal Ball
dressed in her mother's gown and
glass slippers. Prince Henry sees
her and goes to her. Rodmilla
interrupts them and tells the
crowd that Danielle is nothing
but a servant girl.
The Prince asks Danielle is this
is true and she says yes. The
Prince is upset that she lied to
him and he storms away. Danielle
runs home. The next day she is
sold into slavery in return for
furniture Rodmilla sold.
The Prince realizes he really
does love Danielle and goes
looking for her. She escapes from
the villainous Pierre le Pieu and
is reunited with Prince Henry.
Rodmilla and Marguerite are sent
to work in the royal laundry.
Anyone who's familiar with
romantic fairy tales knows that
Danielle and Prince Henry
"live happily ever
after" .
WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE
TALKING ABOUT:
Drew Barrymore. Little
