DOWN &
DIRTY:
Drama: A federal marshal tails a
laid back bank robber and must
deal with her growing romantic
feelings for him.
NITTY GRITTY:
Jack Foley (GEORGE CLOONEY) is
the laid back professional bank
robber. One of the most
successful in history, over 200
banks. He's known for his
courteous and nonviolent
behavior. After pulling off his
latest heist, he's captured and
sent to a Florida prison.
There he learns of a prison break
and manages to get in on it. As
the cons escape, Federal Marshal
Karen Sisco (JENNIFER LOPEZ) just
happens upon the scene. With her
shotgun aimed at Jack, she's
surprised by his old friend and
former cell mate, Buddy (VING
RHAMES), who throws her in her
trunk with Jack. As they make
their getaway, in the tight
confines of the car trunk, a
romantic spark ignites between
the two, a fact that troubles
Karen since she's supposed to be
upholding the law.
Karen convinces another partner,
Glenn (STEVE ZAHN), to drive off
and she escapes. But she can't
get her mind off Jack. After a
series of other 'close'
encounters, Karen follows Jack
and his crew to Detroit where
they're planning to steal several
million dollars worth of uncut
diamonds from Richard Ripley
(ALBERT BROOKS), a wealthy tycoon
they met in prison.
Added to the shenanigans is
another ex-con and ex-boxer,
Maurice 'Snoopy' Miller (DON
CHEADLE), who, along with his
cousin and bodyguard, also plan
to steal the diamonds after Glenn
blabs about them.
As the two groups of thieves
descend upon the sprawling
estate, Karen must deal with her
inner conflict between her duty
to uphold the law and her growing
affection for Jack.
THE ENDING:
Jack finds the diamonds in
Ripley's aquarium and gives them
to Buddy. Buddy gets away clean,
but Jack goes back inside and
kills Snoopy's brother. The
bodyguard ends up killing himself
in a hilarious scene. Karen kills
Snoopy before he can shoot Jack
and then arrests Jack. She gives
Jack a new Zippo and takes him
back to Florida.
