DOWN &
DIRTY:
Suspense/Thriller: A detective
team tries to discover whether
there's more than meets the eye
regarding two high school
students who've accused their
guidance counselor of raping
them.
NITTY GRITTY:
Sam Lombardo (MATT DILLON) is the
handsome and sexy high school
guidance counselor in Blue Bay,
an upper crust yachting community
in Florida, where the wealthy Van
Ryan family seems to control
everything and everybody.
With a reputation for being a
ladies man, Sam also draws the
attention of some young female
students, including Kelly Van
Ryan (DENISE RICHARDS), who
washes his Jeep and tries to
seduce him.
After finally getting him alone,
she later confesses to her
mother, Sandra (THERESA RUSSELL)
that Sam raped her. Their
attorney wants Sam locked away.
But detectives Ray Duquette
(KEVIN BACON) and Gloria Perez
(DAPHNE RUBIN-VEGA) have their
doubts.
Sam denies the charges,but Suzie
Troller (NEVE CAMPBELL) -- a girl
from the wrong side of the tracks
--admits that he also raped her,
sending him to jail.
With legal defense from ambulance
chaser Ken Bowden (BILL MURRAY),
Sam hopes to clear his name
during the trial. Surprise
testimony from Suzie Troller
sends the community reeling.
Now the detectives have their
work cut out for them as they try
to figure out if there's
something more going on between
the accused and his accusers.
Twists and turns and
double-crosses follow, and you're
never sure how any of it will
end.
THE ENDING:
Well, let's see....Sam kills
Suzie, then pulls two of her teeth
to plant as evidence of her
death. Detective Duquette kills
Kelly. But then turns up in the
tropics with Sam on his brand new
sailboat. Who pops up next?
Suzie. She wasn't really killed.
Just part of the scheme.
Sam and Ray fight it out on the
boat and Sam knocks Ray
overboard. Ray climbs back on and
is killed by Suzie with a
speargun. Then Suzie slips Sam a
'mickey' and sails off into the
sunset with all the money.
WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE
TALKING ABOUT:
Kevin Bacon's frontal
nudity...you see his 'six
degrees' of Bacon. RUNNER UP: The
scene in the end credits when
they show Sam 'pulling' teeth
from the very much alive Suzie.
