The X
Files
DOWN &
DIRTY:
Sci-fi: Two FBI agents, who
specialize in paranormal
activity, investigate a bombing
that leads to the discovery of a
government cover up of global
proportions.
NITTY GRITTY:
For years, agents Fox Mulder
(DAVID DUCHOVNY) and Dana Scully
(GILLIAN ANDERSON) have worked on
top-secret FBI files concerning
paranormal matters. Mulder, who
believes his sister was abducted
by aliens when they were kids, is
the true believer, while Scully,
who was initially assigned to
debunk his theories, has seen too
much to be a nonbeliever herself.
Now, the X-Files have been closed
and the two agents have been
reassigned to cover more
"normal" crimes such as
bomb threats. After a massive
bomb destroys a building, (aka
Oklahoma City) Dr. Alvin
Kurtzweil (MARTIN LANDAU), a
conspiracy theory novelist,
approaches Mulder with
information about several bodies
pulled from the building.
Mulder and Scully begin to
investigate and uncover a massive
government cover up fronted by
"The Cigarette- Smoking
Man" (WILLIAM B. DAVIS) and
Strughold (ARMIN MUELLER-STAHL),
the leader of the top secret
organization, The Syndicate.
Mulder and Scully find themselves
trying to stop an international
operation that's working on a
mutated and deadly virus that
could result in the demise of
everyone on earth.
THE ENDING:
Scully is stung by a
virus-infected bee and is taken
away. Mulder tracks her down. A
domed laboratory in Antarctica.
He gives her a dose of the
antidote and drags her out. In
the process, the huge underground
facility implodes causing the ice
shelf to collapse. A giant alien
'Mother' ship flies out of the
hole, but only Mulder sees it.
Mulder and Scully barely make it
away. That doesn't stop
the Syndicate from continuing.
They just move their operation to
the deserts of Tunisia, but they
receive an ominous telegram
"THE X-FILES ARE RE-OPENED,
PLEASE ADVISE."
WHAT EVERYONE WILL BE
TALKING ABOUT:
The scene where Mulder
and Scully are about to lip lock
but are interrupted by the bee.
